Evangelism during the Presidential Inauguration

What do you expect to abound during the inauguration ceremony of a new president of a country? Of course, PEOPLE! And that’s exactly what field the area where the Quirino Grandstand, in the famed Luneta Park is, on June 30, 2010 (estimated crowd: 500,000), as the Philippines witnessed the inauguration of Benigno Aquino III as the 15th president of the Republic.

And where there are people, for the responsible Christian, there are souls to reach for Christ. That was the reason why a team from Living Waters Asia forgot that the day was supposed to be a holiday, a time to rest, but instead trooped early in the morning to the venue of the inauguration to share the Gospel to people. How easy it was to do fishing when the fishes are all around you waiting to be caught. The team’s supply of Gospel tracts were all distributed in a matter of 30 minutes and so, they used their remaining time talking to people about the only message that can bring them to Heaven.

Think of what we, Christians, can do if all of us would just embrace opportunities like this to deliver the Gospel to people. You can be sure that the next time a big crowd like this turns out in one place, LWA will be there. But we hope to also see you there.

Witnessing Clip (July 2010): Politics as springboard to the Gospel

Last June 30, 2010, LWA was at the inauguration ceremony for the new Philippine president. With thousands of people around to witness this historical event, the LWA team couldn’t resists the temptation of using the event as a springboard for the Gospel. Watch how Jayvee eagerly answered questions about what every Filipino needs to do to help the new president turn our country around (according to him, to be good persons), and how he was caught off-guard when asked if he thinks he is a good person.
